The mission of Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Daily Programming Duties:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a positive, equitable, accessible, safe and supportive environment for girls, which supports individual choice and fosters independence.
  • Create educational STEM opportunities for students through community outreach and partnerships.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing plans for STEM projects.
  • Facilitate Thinking SMART summer and school year programming.
  • Participate in and work with community partners to build relationships and seek out resources

    for programs and program participants.

  • In conjunction with the program leadership team supervise and implement developmentally

    appropriate activities for the Thinking SMART program that follows and provide choices and opportunities for participants including but not limited to externships, health and wellness,

STEM and Leadership. Adhering to guidelines established by the Girls Inc. National program

models.
• Development of curriculum and activities for both new and ongoing programs.

• Participate in available STEM trainings and experience STEM topics.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work with the program leadership team on recruitment and retention.
  • Ability to objectively observe, coach, and mentor peers.

• This position is a direct service position.

• Communicate with and address any behavior concerns as well as parent/guardian concerns and questions promptly and appropriately.

  • Ensure that all necessary attendance data is entered into the Girls Inc. system as needed and requested.
  • Create informational resources for schools and students for school year and summer programs.
  • Keep parents/guardians informed of child’s progress, challenges, discipline issues, and

    activities within the program.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The nature of community support work and staffing patterns necessitates that staff be generalists and must understand that at any given time they may be called upon to perform duties beyond those listed in this description to meet individual or program needs.

  • Attends routine household/ building maintenance duties. (Example: changing light bulbs, plunging toilets, removing trash, cleaning recreational space, etc.).
  • Be available as necessary for special activities on weekend and/or evening hours, including but not limited to Open Houses and Board events.
  • Provides transportation to individuals in company vehicles.

    Physical & Mental Requirements

    Must have the physical and cognitive abilities to:

  • Safely perform all essential responsibilities and operate a telephone, computer, copier, fax

    machine and household appliances, with or without the aid of mechanical devices.

  • Quickly and safely ambulate within the program facility, bend, stoop, kneel and reach, with or

    without the aid of mechanical devices.

  • Learn and perform the skills taught in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to perform job abilities in a stressful environment.

    Training Requirements

  • Must have current training/certification in First Aid and CPR or be trained within 90 days of hire. Must maintain valid certifications throughout employment.
  • Take advantage of training and professional growth opportunities (min. of 10 hrs per calendar year).
  • Must attend other training as required by Girls Incorporated and EEC.
  • EEC Background Record Check completed prior to start date.

Qualifications:

  • At least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Bachelor’s degree, in education or a STEM field
  • 1-2 years of experience working with youth in an out of school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing youth programs.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and maintaining accurate records.
  • Mature, responsible, organized, with strong time management skills.

• Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
