Resource Development Manager at the Lowell Transitional Living Center

SUMMARY

The Resource Development Manager will be responsible for the attainment of established fundraising objectives and initiatives in support of the Lowell Transitional Living Center, including donor cultivation, grant development, event management and community outreach. He/she will be responsible for the development and cultivation of community relationships, the execution of LTLC’s branding & social media strategies, and community partnerships, including the corporate/business community, local foundations, faith & civic groups and other community supporters.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet annual fundraising goals per the development strategic operating plan.
  • Develop and maintain a successful corporate, foundation, and individual solicitation program, including identifying priorities and prospects, and building resources and connections to implement the program.
  • Create and manage a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual prospects, cultivate current and prospective donors to build relationships and secure grants and donations.
  • Execute Social Media strategy and develop strategic briefings and communication materials with marketing support staff/RD team.
  • Develop and track strategies for cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and recognizing donors.
  • Maintain the integrity of donor relationships, including the understanding of the needs and interests of major donors.
  • Produce and manage donor correspondence, including annual campaign appeals.
  • Engage and support Board in the soliciting and stewarding of donors.
  • Work with Board and the Executive Director to secure sponsorships of special events such as the Steps to Home walk.
  • Increase awareness of the LTLC in the Greater Lowell community.
  • Coordinate events required to interact with donors (conferences, galas, house parties, etc.)
  • Maintain Salesforce donor database, including donation and grant tracking & reporting.
  • Ensure the quality and timely submission of all grant applications, reports and data.
  • Provide regular fundraising updates to Executive Director and Board.
  • Attend & participate in engagement team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as SMOC policies & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree required or equivelant plus 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Compassion and commitment to the mission and goals of the LTLC.
  • A proven track record in raising money in a nonprofit environment, including direct mail campaigns, donor relations, event management, and corporate/foundation relationship management.
  • Upbeat, positive, and energetic approach to work.
  • Results-driven with highly developed interpersonal skills, excellent oral presentation and written skills – especially correspondence with donors and prospects.
  • Comfortable operating in a nonprofit, resource-limited environment.
  • Energized by the opportunity to support/build the development program for the LTLC.
  • Salesforce database skills preferred or ability to quickly learn.
  • Ability to work both independently and on team projects with a diverse constituency of staff and donors.
  • Experience with social media, nonprofit marketing and branding.
  • Maturity to work with highly visible civic, philanthropic, and business leaders.
  • Willing to travel to partner or agency locations in Eastern Massachusetts.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to meet insurance standards.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

  • Directly reports to Director of Development.
  • Direct reports of this position are none.

WORKING CONDITIONS

As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Resource Development Manager will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required
