Assistant Director of Regional Programs – University Advancement – UMass Lowell
General Summary of Position:
The Assistant Director of Regional Programs will work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies, events and programs to engage our entire alumni population, including all graduate and undergraduate alumni, in the life of the University. S/he will collaborate with various constituencies (including students, administrators, faculty, vendors, etc.) to ensure that the needs of alumni are met. Responsibilities will include managing and working with alumni volunteer committees as well as developing, planning and executing alumni programs and events, around the region and across the country.
1. Regional Program
a. Oversee the Regional Alumni Network program including management of key territories, as well as implement new engagement initiatives and metrics-tracking strategies.
b. Events- Organize regional events including, but not limited to events utilizing the Division 1 transition and our comprehensive campaign objectives.
c. Oversee calendar of regional travel by university colleagues to help implement a Road Scholar program.
d. Volunteer Management- Research and incorporate new and innovative ways to assist alumni volunteers in their efforts to help create an alumni community all around the world. Help to organize a proper coding and tracking system for alumni involvement and activity, along with implementing and executing stewardship efforts for those volunteers.
2. Appreciation Programming- Engage alumni through appreciation programming under a variety of different disciplines, including annual appreciation nights and discounts.
3. Development Collaboration- Work with Development team to assess proper and effective alumni engagement efforts for that correlate with their regional zone activity.
4. General Alumni Events- Work with Alumni Relations team to be present at appropriate campus-wide events. Attend other events when needed as a representative of Alumni Relations.
5. Provide assistance as needed, which can include finding new venues, solidifying logistics, preparing event materials and working events to meet the alumni community.
6. Assist the Executive Director and collaborate with other staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Baccalaureate degree or higher, UMass Lowell alumna(us) preferred
-3-5 years’ experience in Alumni Relations in higher educational setting (preference given to those who have volunteer management background).
-Proven ability to manage and train volunteers as well as possess an expertise in drafting and executing creative individual and region-wide volunteer strategies.
-Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
-Strong organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple and complex tasks and projects concurrently
-Desire to travel nationally and internationally
-Strong work ethic and integrity
-Commitment to teamwork and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the institution
-Experience in planning and executing successful events for alumni within a defined budgetary parameter
-Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Massachusetts Lowell
-Demonstrated ability to take initiative in program development and evaluation
-The ability to work effectively with a program coordinator and diverse groups
-Demonstrated ability to work with computers, including word processing, spread sheet and graphic software
-Weekend and evening work will be necessary
