The recipient of the 2025 Elinor Lipman Award for Writing is Julia Magee, a student at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and a resident of Westford, MA, for her story “A Little Less than Halfway to Boiling.”
The Lipman Award pays tribute to Lowell native Elinor Lipman, author of many novels, stories, and essays. Funded by the Pollard Memorial Library Foundation, the award honors a Lowell resident or student at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, or Middlesex Community College for an outstanding work of fiction or creative nonfiction. The award recognizes and amplifies the importance of literacy and learning in the City of Lowell for the lives of its residents.
