Here in the Merrimack Valley, there are many wonderful causes that aim to help members of our community by giving up countless hours to volunteer their time by planning events, fundraising, spreading awareness, and so much more.  One such organization is the A.M.S.I. Foundation!  This wonderful group awards scholarships to students in the Merrimack Valley area.  They also offer information and programs for those seeking higher education, which is an amazing resource if you ask us! We’re sure there any many students as well as parents out there that may need a bit of assistance navigating the waters when it comes to higher education, and that is what the A.M.S.I. foundation is there for!

They work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of young adults right here in our own community with their educational offerings and scholarships.  Currently their scholarships include a Leadership Scholarship, Educators Scholarship, JROTC Leadership Scholarship, Community Service Scholarship, and a Second Chance Scholarship.  Some of these scholarships have nothing to do with academics, and are solely based on community involvement which opens them up to a wide variety of students.  Applications for 2017 will be out in November, so be sure to keep an eye on their website!

If this is an organization you’d like to be involved with, they are always looking for donors, event sponsors, or volunteers!  One great event they have coming up is their “Getting Ready for the FAFSA” information session which is FREE to attend!  It is October 20th from 6:30-8 PM at the Chelmsford Public Library and will be hosted by a financial coach.  You can find more information on that event and register by clicking here.  Another fun event they have coming up in October is their 5th Annual Hallows Eve 5K Fun Run & Walk.  It is going to be Sunday, October 30th at the Lowell Lodge of Elks and runners and walkers of all skill levels are welcome!  There will also be a costume contest and a free kids Fun Run!  The race will be chip timed and Trick-or-Treating will also be available.  What better way to get ready for Halloween and get a jump on burning off all of that Halloween candy you’re going to eat?  We’re sure this will be a day full of fun for all.

We’ve only begun to tell you about the amazing things the A.M.S.I. Foundation does, but for anything they can’t do they have a great Resource Center page on their site that has links to any website a high school senior or their parent(s) may need. They can’t continue to do their great work without the help of our community though, so next time you’re thinking of donation your time or money to a worthy cause, give them a call!  They will be extremely grateful and you can be proud knowing you’re helping to make a difference in someone’s future.
