If there’s two things we love here at the Chamber, it’s supporting a great cause and having fun, so when we have the chance to do both of those things at once we have to tell everyone about it!  Many of you have probably heard about the Merrimack Valley Food Bank and the wonderful work they do.  What you may not know, is that this is their 25th year of serving the Merrimack Valley!  Since 1991 they have transported, stored, and distributed food to members of our community that may be down on hard times and less fortunate than others.  Their commitment ensures that many people do not go hungry and have nutritious food available for themselves and their families.  In fact, through their network of member agencies including food pantries etc., they serve nearly 70,000 people each month!

As you can imagine, supporting such a large amount of people can be costly, and luckily the food bank receives many generous donations throughout the year from food drives, individual donors, and different organizations, but they can always use more because the more they have, the more they can help.  If you’re wondering
how you can help them help others, there are many different ways to give, whether it’s your time, food, or a monetary donation, everything helps!  They also have different events throughout the year to help them fund raise, and one of them is right around the corner!

The food bank will be hosting their 11th Annual Grape Expectations Wine Tasting Extravaganza on Thursday, May 5th.  Since this year’s event falls on Cinco de Mayo, they ar
e calling it their Fiesta del Vino, so we can expect a bit of Mexican flare to be thrown in as well, and certainly a great time will be had by all.  There will be live entertainment, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, brews, spirits, and of course wine, and it all benefits a wonderful cause! What more could you ask for in a night out?  Last year this event helped the food bank share 3 million pounds of food through their network of food pantries, shelters, and meal programs in 45 cities and towns throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  Grape Expectations will take place at Lenzi’s in Dracut and tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased here.

If you can’t make it to Grape, they also have other events coming up this year that are a great time as well including their Annual Golf Tournament, their 1st Annual 5k Road Race, and a 25th Birthday Celebration!  We know we’ll be celebrating with them, and we hope that you will too! If you can’t join them at the events but would still like to help, they are always excepting donations and every little bit makes a difference, so whether your donation is big or small it will be greatly appreciated and used to help as many people as possible.
