Garden Grand Opening with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell is excited to announce the Grand Opening of our new raised bed gardens thanks to a grant from the Vela Foundation and Nobis Engineering’s generosity in allowing the Club to use their property. Rafaela Gonzalez, a graduate of Mill City Grows Garden Coordinator Institute, has been hired as our Garden Coordinator. Lots of volunteers, including groups from Nobis Engineering, iRobot, UMass Lowell, the Lowell Police and Fire Departments – as well as over 35 individuals came together to transform this space into a beautiful garden where our kids will be able to experience growing and preparing fresh produce.  Mill City Grows was a valuable partner in the project, providing technical assistance.  The Grand Opening is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, July 12^th at 11:00 a.m. Representatives from the Boys & Girls Club, Nobis Engineering, the Chamber of Commerce and many of the other stakeholders are expected to attend.  The Grand Opening will take place at the garden which is situated in a fenced in area between the Boys & Girls Club  and Nobis Engineering’s offices near the Pawtucket Canal. Please RSVP to Kate Thoene at kthoene@lbgc.org or 978-458-4526 x 20.
